Mariachi Juvenile Los Tigres, known as New York’s first public high school mariachi, is White
Plains High School’s own student run mariachi that looks to celebrate Mexican culture by
performing at school events, running fundraisers of traditional Mexican food, and holding our very own city-wide event, Musica Y Mole.
Last school year, on April 27 we held our most popular event Musica y Mole where we had a
group of vendors compete in a mole cooking competition, judged by a committee of honored guests, and folk dancers and other mariachis perform.
For those looking to simply learn a new instrument, Mariachi Club every meeting breaks up into sections to provide one-on-one help. Eventually, as an entire mariachi ensemble we perform at the annual school music concerts.
Junior Varsity Mariachi meets every Monday after school from 2:45-3:30 PM in room D110
(orchestra room). Come learn a new instrument (guitar, guitarron, harp, vihuela, etc…), how to sing or the beauty of Mexican culture! No prior music experience is necessary
