Mariachi Juvenil Los Tigres, a group of talented musicians promoting a fun, engaging, and inviting experience to partake in learning the beautiful musical style of Mariachi, is looking forward to a great school year.
Recently, the Mariachi Juvenil Los Tigres received our own mariachi trajes de charro, a type of Mexican clothing that accompanies many mariachis around the world. In October, we performed at White Plains Hospital and Church Street Elementary School in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. We also received a visit from Mariachi Solmixteco and the founder of the WPHS Mariachi. We played mariachi classics like "Cieltio Lindo," "Des Colores," and "Son De La Negra." We have many plans for this school year, including raising money for mariachi trajes, trips, and new instruments for students to play. We also hope to play for many more local events in celebration of traditional Mexican holidays such as Dia De Los Muertos, and Dia De Los Tres Reyes Magos.
We hope to expand our presence online via social media including on Instagram and TikTok, and we hope to host a mole competition for local businesses next year. We are very excited for this academic school year, and we can’t wait to inform you about all of our success at the end of the year.
This year's officers are as follows: Emiliano Juarez & Pamela Guevara (Co-Presidents), Nashaly Dove & Angel Bahamon (Co-Vice Presidents), Guadalupe Ibañez & Benny Rosas (Co-Secretaries), Matthew Salinger & Lucas Rhode (Co-Treasurers), Jhenny Vicente (Traje Manager).
All are welcome to join Mariachi, regardless of experience! We have students playing a wide range of instruments including violins, flutes, trumpets, guitarron (bass), vihuelas, guitars, and vocals (singers).
Join us in D110 every Tuesday after school, from 2:45-3:45 PM, and follow us on Instagram @wphsmariachi.
