Since his sophomore year, Logan McCormick has been a key player for White Plains Varsity Basketball. Logan stands at an impressive 6’6" in stature, delivering high-flying highlights nearly every game. Last season, Logan was named All-Section, averaging 16 points per game. However, Logan has his eyes set on bigger goals.
So far, the Tigers are 6-1, with Logan delivering three 20-point performances. Logan said the goal for this season is “to win the section…and probably go further.” After falling short in the playoffs last year, the Tigers, led by Coach Spencer Mayfield, have adopted a winning mentality.
McCormick is recognized as one of the top players in Section One. Lohud magazine named him one of their ‘Super 7’ players. (In addition, White Plains point guard Miles Johnson was given an honorable mention.)
Not only is Logan a star on the court, but he also excels in Track and Field. Logan was named to the All-Conference second team for track after winning the section in both the high jump and 400m hurdle. Logan was also 11th in the state for the high jump event.
When asked about his future in basketball, Logan said that he hopes “to play in college,” and that he would consider “playing overseas, or wherever it takes him” post-college. Considering his already impressive résumé, it is clear that Logan has a bright future in track, basketball, or even both.
