Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Darcy Joins the P.E. Team

Updated: Oct 7

 By Sophia Gould

We are excited to welcome Ms. Darcy to the White Plains High School Physical Education team! Ms. Darcy will be teaching yoga and mindfulness/meditation, fitness, and recreation sports.

A bit about Ms. Darcy: She has been passionate about sports from a young age, playing basketball since she was five years old and softball since she was nine. She continued both sports through high school and college. Ms. Darcy graduated from Cornwall Central High School in upstate New York and attended Saint Joeseph’s University in Philadelphia, where she was an English major. During her time there she was a substitute teacher and remained deeply involved in athletics.

In her junior year, Ms. Darcy realized that she loved to be in the classroom and learn about the body and wellbeing. This realization led her to switch her studies and complete her master's in physical education and sports pedagogy at Manhattanville college.

Ms. Darcy hopes her students at White Plains High School find a love and passion for fitness and enjoy learning how the body impacts the mind. Most important, she encourages everyone to express themselves by stepping out of their comfort zone and into a new hobby that they can carry with them in the future.

Welcome, Ms. Darcy! We can’t wait to see the positive impact you’ll have on our students.
