Ms. Tharkur is the newest addition to the English department here at WPHS, but she’s no stranger to the school. A White Plains graduate herself, Ms. Tharkur reflected on her return, “It’s nice being back in the school that I graduated from… a lot of memories here… it’s very nostalgic.”
After spending the last nine years teaching in New York City, she noted that teaching in White Plains is a different experience. “Nothing really surprises me anymore,” she shared, emphasizing the importance of being adaptable to how students act and learn. Her favorite part of her first few weeks as a White Plains teacher has been getting to know her students.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Tharkur loves to cook and was a successful high school basketball player. If she could go back to high school, she said “I would have definitely been into theater and dance.”
