From March 13-16, Nike Indoor Nationals (NIN) took place at The Armory in New York City, bringing together thousands of top athletes from across the nation to compete. Qualifying for this prestigious event is no easy feat, as only the most dedicated athletes earn the chance to participate. This year, six student-athletes from White Plains’ Indoor Track Team earned their spots at the competition.

On Friday, the Boys 1,600-meter Sprint Medley Relay team competed in the Emerging Elite section. The relay race consists of four legs: in the first, two runners each complete 200 meters; the third leg runs 400 meters, and the anchor runs the final 800 meters. Senior Luca Alberts and junior Nate Bartlett ran the first two 200-meter legs, followed by senior Kiernan Keane, who covered the 400 meters. Finally, junior Matt LaRosa anchored the team with the 800-meter leg. The team finished 19th out of 28 teams in the Emerging Elite category, clocking a time of 3:45.09.

On Saturday, sophomore Isabella Reidy competed in the Girls 1-mile Emerging Elite race. This marked her second time at Nike Indoor Nationals, as she qualified for the Freshman Mile event last year. She finished 35th out of 45 competitors in the Emerging Elite category, setting a personal best of 5:18.72.

Finally, on Sunday, senior Noah Lee competed in the Emerging Elite Long Jump. This was his second appearance at NIN, having previously qualified for the 4x200-meter relay in 2023. Lee had a strong performance, finishing 16th out of 26 competitors in the Emerging Elite category, jumping 6.35 meters (20 feet, 10 inches).

With another successful indoor season behind them, the team is already focused on the outdoor track season, aiming to build on this experience and continue to excel in future competitions.
