On Thursday, April 23, the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) inducted new junior and senior members. Students were formally recognized for their dedication, creativity and service.
The annual “Induction Show” went up in the hallways a week prior to the induction to showcase the students’ work. Inductees maintained commitment to the club throughout the year by attending Friday meetings and participating in every activity. Some of those activities include selling handmade items at the PTA-sponsored craft fair in December and the “Memory Project,” where they made portraits for children experiencing hardships in India. The first-ever “Night for Art” was hosted in February, allowing members of the community to learn different art techniques.
NAHS adviser Mr. Chiariello prepared a lovely evening in the auditorium. A 2023 WPHS graduate and current junior at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Santi Niño, gave advice to the students regarding their future in art, saying that with art, they can do anything. Each newly inducted member received a certificate and carnation, and seniors earned their graduation cords. Following the ceremony, refreshments were served, and members’ loved ones were able to admire their art.
The ceremony was a reminder of the continued strength of the arts in the school. The Orange congratulates all the inductees.
