WHITE PLAINS- The White Plains boys lacrosse team continued their red-hot stretch on Thursday, April 23 as they sent the Briarcliff/Croton-Harmon Bearcats home from Loucks Stadium thoroughly dominated, 15-3.
The Tigers displayed defensive and offensive excellence on Thursday evening, as they immediately jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the Bearcats at the end of the first quarter, and they didn’t slow down there. The Tigers led 10-0 at halftime and didn’t allow a goal until about 9:50 to go in the third quarter. Briarcliff/Croton-Harmon scored again with 9:21 to go in the third, and then with 4:30 to go in the fourth, while White Plains added on five additional goals during the game’s second half to bring the final to 15-3.
It was truly a team effort, with goals and assists spread out through the team. Patrick Dooley and Chris LaRosa both achieved hat tricks, scoring three or more goals, with Dooley scoring five and LaRosa scoring three. Captain Eddie Ryan, who is committed to playing lacrosse at Farleigh Dickinson University after graduating this year, had two goals and three assists. Isaiah Doliner, Jayden Tineo and Nick Bellantoni had one goal each, with Bellantoni adding an assist to his stat line too.
“We have six guys on offense who all are capable of putting the ball into the goal… they play unselfish, they share the ball and defensively we’re a little more physical,” White Plains boys lacrosse head coach Mark Armogida said of the team’s dominance this season.
On top of the offensive dominance, goalie Vincent Mignardi was excellent in the crease for the Tigers. Mignardi tallied 10 saves and held Briarcliff/Croton-Harmon scoreless until midway through the third quarter.
“Vinny’s a polished goal-tender and a great stopper of the ball,” said Armogida.
Captain Alex Spista added two goals and one assist to his incredible career stat lines. Recently, Spista, a junior, achieved 100 career goals with the White Plains Varsity team. Spista will look to chase down the school’s current record of 175 career goals through his remaining time at White Plains High School.
Armogida chose Spista to highlight when asked about who has been leading the team on this hot streak.
“Alex has been awesome at face-offs… the plan wasn’t to use him this year either, but because of certain circumstances, we’ve had to throw [Spista] in there as a face-off guy… and he’s been doing an unbelievable job.”
Armogida also highlighted Ryan’s ability to generate plays and compared him to a point guard in basketball, citing his unselfishness while playing and his leadership on the field. Armogida also noted that Ryan is poised to break the White Plains High School all-time career assist record this season.

With the win, White Plains moved to 9-1 on the season, and remained undefeated in section play. As of Saturday, April 25, White Plains is tied for first place in the Class-A standings with Mamaroneck, who also is undefeated in section play.
The Tigers’ next three games will all be at Loucks Stadium against Clarkstown North on April 29, Suffern on May 1 and Valhalla on May 5. As the lacrosse team plays their final six games of the 2026 season, White Plains looks to close out a truly dominant season by holding off the rest of the Section One competition while also aiming to gain sole possession of first place. The Tigers are poised to make a deep playoff run and have the potential to host playoff games at Loucks Stadium, which will be announced on a later date.
