On the first Friday of every month, the White Plains Public Library stays open late for White Plains residents in grades 9-12. Activities are available during this time, including PS5 and Switch 2 video games, board games and crafts.
There are also other activities that take place on a rotating basis. Some such activites are movie nights, an open mic with the White Plains High School Songwriters Club, laser tag, trivia competitions and karaoke/Lip Sync for Your Life competitions.
The next After Hours will be held on November 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. This week will feature a special event: a SpongeBob-themed trivia competition. Those interested in suggesting other activities should join the Edge Advisory Board, a group that brainstorms teen activities for the library. Meetings dates are at the top of the library’s calendar.
If you like going to the White Plains Library After Hours event, check out The Spot, a program run by the Youth Bureau and Recreation and Parks. The Spot takes place in the White Plains Community Center, 65 Mitchell Place every third Friday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m. The Spot features a fun bingo game with good prizes, and there are larger scale activities like pumpkin carving and ice skating. Need community service hours? The November event will have a community service activity to make holiday cards for the military.
Food is provided for both events. After Hours serves pizza, snacks and desserts while The Spot offers a wider variety of options.
WPPL After Hours upcoming dates are November 7, December 5, January 2, February 6, March 6, May 1 and June 5.
