On Friday, May 8, Mr. Spiconardi, instructor of the APUSH and Global History I classes, spent his last days in the classroom before leaving for surgery.
While he will return in time for the next school year, students wrote cards, gave gifts and sang “Happy Last Day,” a unique twist on the classic “Happy Birthday” song.
“I’m going to miss his humor,” freshman Dayanna Silva said.
“And how he was never boring,” Zoe Cruz added.
“There was always something to look forward to,” Lara Schwartz said. Silva, Cruz, and Schwartz attend Mr. Spiconardi’s 8th-period Global History I class.
Whether it was the competition between the two freshman history classes or the hours he sacrificed after school helping juniors study for the AP, Mr. Spiconardi holds a special place in his students’ hearts.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support—and, to be honest, it is almost tear-inducing,” he said. “I won’t miss the Regents, but I will miss the graduations, seeing my students grow, things like that.”
From teacher to student, the entire school community is wishing Mr. Spiconardi a smooth and easy recovery!
